Traditional Craftsmanship Collection

Nature, culture, and traditional craftsmanship  are the three pillars of art director Minh Pham's creation. Returning and exploring Vietnam, he had the opportunity to learn more about these things. He visited craft villages, observed the meticulous, skillful and creative processing stages of traditional Vietnamese craftsmen as well as admired the unique artworks and architectures in the past which are preserved to this day.

The result of these trips is the Collection of Traditional Craftsmanship and Ancient Architecture honoring the valuable knowledge and skills of talented Vietnamese craftsmen.

KEO PAGODA

The carved door of Keo Pagoda with the Vietnamese traditional dragon art is a famous sculpture. Beautiful carving on wood is nearly 400 years old which inspired the designer of DeSilk when looking for new creative ideas.

EGGSHELL LACQUER

The eggshell lacquer technique is a century-long tradition in Vietnam. Every piece is hand-made by craftsmen who create their own stories and styles through these incredibly embellished eggshell pieces.

GOLD GILDING

Gilding gives an object a gold appearance. Gold gilding is very sophisticated and meticulous, requiring craftsmen to be persistent, diligent, careful and delicate with many different processes. Each gold leaf is placed by hand one by one, and the artwork is revealed little by little.

 EIGHTEEN ARHAT

The Eighteen Arhat statues at the fine art museum in Hanoi depict the talent of Vietnamese craftsmen. These 18th-century statues bear the traces of time; bumps, traces of oxidation, decoloration which make them unique. Aging is a beautiful process.
